It’s one more week to the Lunar New Year but celebrations go on for more than a month, right? More and more halal-certified restaurants are offering special Chinese New Year menus to spread the festivities to their non-Chinese patrons. With increasing interracial marriages too, it is no surprise that diners are requesting halal alternatives of their favourite traditional Chinese New Year dishes.
Festive seasons are always great for family reunions, gathering of friends or simply a time to enjoy a good meal. We hunted down places with great Chinese New Year promotions and meals, to celebrate this long weekend.
1. Tang Tea House
With their latest Changi Village outlet boasting a beautiful indoor air-conditioned seating area, you can enjoy your Prosperity Yusheng with Abalone, alone with iconic Chinese zi char dishes. 2. Saltwater Cafe
Feast in a prosperous spread to usher in the Lunar New Year prepared by the chefs at Saltwater, a halal-certified restaurant. From 2nd February to 2nd March 2018, Saltwater celebrates Lunar New Year with a bountiful spread featuring Lunar New Year specials including Fried Ee Fu Noodles to wish all guests longevity, Sea Cucumber with Vegetables, a must-have delicacy during Lunar New Year to wish for better lives, savoury Char Siew Lamb Rack and heart-warming Braised Oxtail with Black Vinegar Soya Sauce.

4. Katong Kitchen
Chefs at Katong Kitchen, a halal-certified restaurant, whip up an abundant spread to welcome the new spring season. From 2nd February to 2nd March 2018, Katong Kitchen presents a bountiful Lunar New Year spread including Steamed Seabass with Superior Sauce to represent good luck throughout the new year, Herbal Chicken for good health, Slipper Lobster in Chilli Crab Sauce to symbolise family and unity, and hearty Broccoli with Crabmeat Gravy. Katong Kitchen’s all-time favourites like Katong Laksa, Ayam Buah Keluak, Beef Rendang, Durian Pengat Shooters and Cempedak Crème Brulee will also be available on rotation basis.
