Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home is catered for the sandwich-class elderly – those who do not qualify for government-funded homes but also cannot afford the more expensive profit-driven private homes with top priorities on affordability and personalized eldercare. It was started with the late Madam Lee in the mid-1960s. She wanted to open the doors of her Kampong Chong Pang residence to retired Samsui women and former Amahs, who wanted a trained nurse to help care for them during their twilight years.

Tips for Eating Durian

durianforgood.jpg

  1. Heatiness: Bring a bottle of water to drink before your durian frenzy

  2. Heatiness: Pour some water into the inner husk of the durian and drink from it

  3. Strong Smell: Wash your hands with the inner husk of the durian. It has a substance called anti-dotum, which can help neutralise the strong durian smell. (You can wash with soap afterwards)

  4. Health: Check with your doctor before registering. People with high cholesterol and high blood pressure should try to avoid eating too much durian! (P.S: The less ripe greener durians have less cholesterol content)

  5. Health: Eat some mangosteens to help neutralise the heaty feeling after your durian frenzy.
