7 Halal Places to Grab Breakfast to Fuel the Day

Rush University Medical Center and many other experts have always cited the breakfast is the “most important meal of the day”. Christy C. Tangney, PhD, a clinical dietitian at Rush University Medical Center and an expert on the effects of diet and nutrition on heart health says that “Studies have found that although people who skip breakfast eat slightly fewer calories during the day, they tend to have higher body mass index, or BMI.” Not convinced yet? Since we’ve established that breakfast is the all important meal of the day, we have decided to round up our early birds that are listed on halalfoodhunt.com so that you can get¬†good grub to fuel your whole day. When it comes to breakfast, we usually skip it because it’s too inconvenient to get or you find that your options in the mornings are limited to MacDonalds or KFC but there’s actually more places that you can grab¬†a good breakfast from.

1. Flavour Flings

If we’re talking about breakfast, Flavour Flings is one place we can’t miss out. Set to fuel you from the a.m. all the way until lunch (or might even last you through lunch), Flavour Flings brings an impressive selection of delectable breakfast dishes to the table.Featuring the classic Eggs Benedict with their own flair, Flavour Flings menu boasts a Salted Egg Yolk Dirty Benny made of brioche, turkey breakfast ham, poached eggs and topped with their trademark Salted Egg Yolk sauce, buttered cereal, garden salad and chicken sausages. Talk about a packed meal! Trust us, the buttered cereal and salted egg yolk with Eggs Benedict is everything and more that you never knew you needed. For Salmon lovers, we recommend the Croissant Dirty Norwegian. Much like its brioche counterpart, this version is stacked on a butter croissant with the addition of Smoked Norwegian Salmon. These are just two of the breakfast items that we’ve tried out at Flavour Flings but they have plenty more for you to pick from so if you’re roaming about the heartlands on a weekend, get a solid breakfast in and you’ll be¬†on course for a great day!Price: Salted Egg Yolk Dirty Benny – $15.90 & Croissant Dirty Norwegian – $16.90

2. VXX Cooperative

A charming quaint and artistic cafe, VXX Cooperative’s marble counter front belies a cosy and comfortable space. At first glance, it might give off a sterile, cold vibe with a scattering of low marble tables but as you go further into a cafe, it will pleasantly surprise you with its charming layout and the sheltered outdoor sitting space which let’s in plenty of sunshine without turning you into a melted puddle.Adding to the charm of the cafe, VXX Cooperative also offers an artistic and varied menu with well curated choices from the unsuspecting Chilli Crab Omelette on sourdough toast to the heartwarming Breakfast Seafood Casserole and Banana French Toast. The Omelette lives up to its name and we do assure you that it does give the taste of Chilli Crab and isn’t just for show but what endears me to VXX Cooperative the most has to be the Seafood Casserole. It’s warms the belly and is ideal for the rainy season. The Banana French Toast might get some getting used to because the frozen berries give it a tart flavour which I could do without but otherwise¬†VXX Cooperative gets a 10/10 from me for ambience, presentation and FOOD!We paired everything¬†with a soothing cup of rich coffee and the decadent Butterscotch Hot Chocolate – Saf imagines this would be what Butterbeer from the Harry Potter world would taste like if it were halal. You’re tempted to know what it’s like now aren’t you? Come by then! Breakfast is served daily until 4pm.Price: Chilli Crab Omelette¬†– $14,¬†Breakfast Seafood Casserole – $14 & Banana French Toast – $12
